By creating an account, accessing, or using MAA INVEST (the "Service"), whether through our website or mobile app, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
MAA INVEST is a savings and investment platform offering: personal savings goals and wallet features; group ("chama") savings with member contributions, officer approvals, and group loans; access to third-party investment products; and mobile money integration (M-Pesa and related payment channels) for deposits and withdrawals.
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into binding contracts under Kenyan law to use MAA INVEST. By registering, you confirm the information you provide is accurate and that you are opening the account for yourself, not on behalf of someone else without authorization.
You are responsible for keeping your password, PIN, and any device used to access MAA INVEST secure. You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account. We are not liable for losses caused by your failure to keep your credentials secure.
We may require identity documents and other verification ("KYC") before allowing certain actions, such as withdrawals above a threshold or investment purchases, in line with applicable anti-money-laundering regulations. We may suspend or limit your account until verification is complete.
Group savings features let members pool money under officers (Treasurer, Chair, Secretary) elected or designated within the group. MAA INVEST provides the platform and approval workflow but is not a party to, and does not mediate, disputes between group members about how a group's funds are managed, allocated, or repaid. Group officers are responsible for decisions made using their approval authority.
Group loans are funded from that group's own pooled savings, not from MAA INVEST directly. Loan terms (interest rate, repayment period, guarantor requirements) are set by each group's Treasurer within the platform's tools. By requesting a loan, you agree to repay the principal plus any interest shown at the time of approval, by the due date shown on your loan. Failure to repay may affect your standing within that group and, where applicable, your ability to request future loans.
If you agree to guarantee another member's loan, you are acknowledging that role within the group's own governance process; MAA INVEST does not independently enforce guarantor obligations outside the group's own rules.
Investment products offered through MAA INVEST carry risk. Past or projected returns are not guaranteed. The value of an investment can go down as well as up, and you may get back less than you invested. Nothing on this platform is personalized financial advice — you are responsible for deciding whether a product is suitable for you.
Applicable fees are shown to you before you confirm a transaction. We may change our fee structure with notice; continued use of the Service after a fee change takes effect means you accept the new fees.
You agree not to: use the Service for money laundering or any unlawful purpose; provide false identity or financial information; attempt to access another user's account without authorization; or interfere with the platform's normal operation (including attempting to bypass security controls).
We may suspend or close your account if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraudulent activity, or if required by law or regulator instruction. Where reasonably possible, we will notify you of the reason.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, MAA INVEST is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including losses from group fund disputes, third-party payment processor delays, or investment performance.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya, without prejudice to any applicable regulatory dispute-resolution process.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will indicate the effective date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by SMS/email where reasonably practicable.
